MG ZS EV

The ZS EV is an electric SUV from MG, 4,323 mm long on a 2,585 mm wheelbase. Its 50.3 kWh battery feeds a permanent magnet synchronous motor of 176.75 PS and 280 Nm, and MG quotes 0 to 100 km/h in 8.5 seconds and a range of 461 km from tests at government-affiliated agencies. It has a Type 2 plus CCS socket; MG gives about 60 minutes from 0 to 80 per cent on a 50 kW DC charger and 8.5 to 9 hours from 0 to 100 per cent on a 7.4 kW AC charger, and a 3.3 kW portable cable comes with every version. The 7.4 kW AC fast charger is optional on the Executive and Excite Pro, and MG's Exclusive Plus and Essence prices include it with installation. The battery has an 8-year or 1,50,000 km warranty. MG also sells the car under a battery-as-a-service scheme, in which the battery is rented by the kilometre; the prices here are for the car with its battery.

Every version has six airbags, ESC, ABS with EBD, hill descent control, an electronic parking brake with auto hold, tyre-pressure monitoring, ISOFIX mounts, a reverse camera, a 25.7 cm (10.1-inch) touchscreen, a 7-inch digital instrument display, LED headlamps, 17-inch alloy wheels, cruise control, automatic air conditioning with rear vents and MG's i-SMART connected-car features. The Excite Pro adds a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, roof rails, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and four JBL speakers fitted by the dealer. The Exclusive Plus adds man-made leather seats, a 6-way powered driver's seat, a wireless phone charger, a 360-degree camera with rear parking sensors and MG's rear drive assist (blind spot detection, lane change assist and rear cross traffic alert). The Essence adds the rest of MG's Level 2 driver assistance (17 functions in all, including adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking and lane keep assist). The Exclusive Plus and Essence are also offered with a dual-tone ivory interior at the same price.
