MG Comet EV

The Comet EV is a small electric car from MG with two doors and four seats, 2,974 mm long on a 2,010 mm wheelbase, with a turning radius of 4.2 m. A permanent magnet synchronous motor makes 42 PS and 110 Nm, and MG quotes a range of 230 km on ARAI test conditions. The Executive, Excite and Exclusive have a 17.3 kWh battery and a Type 2 socket, and take about 7 hours to charge from 0 to 100 per cent on a 3.3 kW charger. The Excite FC and Exclusive FC are the versions MG lists with AC fast charging: they have a 17.4 kWh battery and take about 3.5 hours on a 7.4 kW AC charger. MG's ex-showroom prices include a 3.3 kW wallbox charger with standard installation up to 100 metres, and the battery has an 8-year or 1,20,000 km warranty. MG also sells the car under a battery-as-a-service scheme, in which the battery is rented by the kilometre; the prices here are for the car with its battery.

Every version has dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX mounts, rear parking sensors, an indirect tyre-pressure monitor, three-point belts on all seats, a 50:50 split rear seat and 12-inch steel wheels with covers. The Executive has halogen lamps, a 7-inch digital instrument display, manual air conditioning with heater, fabric seats and a basic audio system with two speakers. The Excite adds LED headlamps and tail lamps, a 10.25-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 10.25-inch digital instrument display, MG's i-SMART connected-car features, a reverse camera and power-folding mirrors. The Exclusive adds ESC with hill hold control, an electronic parking brake, rear disc brakes, tilt steering, MG's smart start system with an intelligent key, man-made leather seats and four speakers.
