Mahindra Thar

The Thar is Mahindra's three-door SUV, now sold as the Thar OG next to the five-door Thar Roxx. It is 3,995 mm long with a hard top and four seats, and Mahindra quotes 232 mm of ground clearance and a 650 mm wading depth. A 1.5-litre diesel (119 PS) with a 6-speed manual and rear-wheel drive is the only engine on the base AXT. The LXT and ZXT also offer a 2.2-litre diesel (152 PS) and a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol (162 PS), each with a 6-speed automatic and rear-wheel drive, or with a 6-speed manual or automatic and part-time four-wheel drive with low range, an electronic locking rear differential and terrain modes.

Every version has ESC with rollover mitigation, hill hold and hill descent control, ISOFIX mounts on the rear seats, rear parking sensors, rear AC vents, push-button start and electric power steering. The AXT and LXT have two airbags and halogen headlamps; the AXT has vinyl seats, 18-inch steel wheels and no touchscreen, and the LXT adds a 10.25-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, four speakers and two tweeters, cruise control and 18-inch alloy wheels. The ZXT has six airbags, LED headlamps and fog lamps, leatherette seats, a rear camera, front parking sensors, tyre-pressure monitoring, a wireless charger, rear disc brakes and 19-inch alloy wheels.
