The Model Y is Tesla's electric mid-size SUV. Tesla India sells it in two versions, both called Premium: the five-seat Model Y with rear-wheel drive, 4,790 mm long, and the six-seat Model Y L with dual-motor all-wheel drive, 4,969 mm long. Tesla quotes a WLTP range of 500 km for the Model Y and 681 km for the Model Y L, 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 and 4.5 seconds, and a top speed of 201 km/h for both. WLTP is a European test cycle: Tesla India's pages give no Indian (ARAI or ICAT) certified range, and they state neither the battery capacity nor the motor output.
Both have 19-inch wheels, a 16-inch centre touchscreen and an 8-inch rear touchscreen, an all-glass roof, heated seats, power-reclining rear seats, HEPA cabin filtration and a hands-free tailgate. Forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure avoidance, blind spot monitoring and Traffic-Aware Cruise Control are standard; Tesla says its Full Self-Driving (Supervised) is not yet available in India. On Tesla's Superchargers the Model Y charges at up to 175 kW and the Model Y L at up to 250 kW, which Tesla says adds up to 238 km and 288 km of range in 15 minutes.
The prices are Tesla's vehicle prices, which include 5% GST. Tesla's order summary then adds 1% TCS and a ₹60,000 administration and service fee before road tax and registration. Tesla's warranty is 4 years or 80,000 km on the car, and 8 years on the battery and drive unit: up to 1,60,000 km on the Model Y and 1,92,000 km on the Model Y L.
