The Roadster is Tesla's electric sports car. Tesla first showed it in 2017 and showed it again, in the form it now takes reservations for, at an event in Texas on 15 October 2026. Tesla lists three versions. The Performance is "road ready with seating for two", with active aerodynamics and a multi-mode suction system that Tesla says maximises downforce. The Thrust is "race ready with seating for two" and adds cold-gas thrusters at the rear, which Tesla says take it from 0 to 100 in under 1 second. The Rocket, by invitation only, seats one and adds what Tesla calls a full flight system; Tesla says it is not approved for public road use.
Tesla has not announced a price or a launch date, in India or anywhere else, and no customer has yet received a second-generation Roadster. Tesla India takes reservations: ₹5,01,000, which Tesla says is fully refundable, then ₹45,05,000 due within 10 days. Tesla's July 2026 update for shareholders listed the Roadster as in design development; at the October event Elon Musk said production would start in 2028. The event showed demonstration cars driving up a ramp until upside down, jumping over other cars on their thrusters and running a live 0 to 60 mph test, all shown in Tesla's own videos on this page.
